Target of the project was the development of a strategy which should be implemented together with measures for efficiency improvement in a process optimisation program

  • Tool shop division with a revenue of ca. 100 Mio. € and a loss of 10 Mio. € per year
  • Bad capacity utilisation of machine shop
  • Unclear strategic position
  • Product branches with very different technological focus
  • In parts, lack of economic competitiveness

Targets

  • Defined division strategy
  • Identification of efficiency potentials
  • Deduction of a new organisational structure

Approach

  • Definition of a division strategy (products, technologies, services)
  • Definition of a process model and a function catalogue
  • Analysis of function expenses and weaknesses
  • Process optimisation: definition of concepts and allocation of efficiency potentials
  • Deduction of a organisation structure
  • Duration: 6 weeks analysis, 10 weeks process optimisation, strategy accompanying

Results

  • Strategic portfolio streamlining, repositioning within whole group
  • New focussing of product program, with competence and resource demands
